Gather

There are many opportunities to gather for food, family, and fellowship at St. Michael’s Fresno.  We have seasonal potluck meals, Shrove Tuesday is marked with a pancake dinner, and each June we have a barbecue at the park.  In the autumn we assemble again for a “Harvest Dinner.”  The Anglican Church Women gather each month, and once a year our parish hosts a Women’s Tea.  Not to mention the annual “Festival of Trees.”  Then of course there are the “road trips” for ice cream.  And movie and game nights.  And deanery-wide assemblies.

But time shared in each others’ company is not just a social event.  More importantly, it is a sharing of Christian fellowship–that thing we promise to do when we recite the Baptismal Covenant.  We strengthen each other when common concerns and joys are shared within the church family.  We experience life in community.  We discover God’s love in our love for one another.
